SKL Inc. was created in 2007, at the initiative of a group of former Laotian high school friends now living in all parts of the world; it has been a Canadian registered charity since 2009. While its central committe is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the organization has active supporters and committees in many parts of Canada and the world. All of SKL’s members are volunteers, meaning that every penny contributed to our endeavours goes directly towards our mission: that of building schools in poor rural areas of Laos.
As of today, three schools have been built by SKL, with funds coming either from individual donations or from the money raised through such diverse initiatives as garage sales, concerts and an annual fundraising dinner. The villages selected for these projects were chosen according to a set of criteria including: the prior existence of a learning facility of some sort, the presence of full time teachers, a potential for growth and responsible governance.
Effectively, with your assistance, the organization will provide children with an adequate learning environment by rebuilding dilapidated schools.
Since we are all volunteers and commit any available free time we have to this endeavour, 100% of all funds go toward the construction of these schools - every cent counts!
