This 11th project concerns a secondary school located in the village of Phoxaykhoun, 600 km southeast of Vientiane, in one of the most underserved regions of Laos. The village was in desperate need of a 7-classroom school serving 9 villages with a total population of 7,873, living in an extremely poor region of Laos.

Once again, by working in collaboration with local professionals, businesses and donors, we were able to raise all the funds needed to build this high school. The children needed a school where they could learn in a safe and education-friendly environment. Completed in November 2023, the school accommodates nearly 200 students from nine villages, offering a new facility as well as furniture, electricity, and washrooms.

A smoother journey to Phoxaykhoun allowed us to arrive fresh and eager for the inauguration. The ceremony was a rich tapestry of culture and community spirit, featuring a traditional blessing (“Baci”) by local elders and a communal lunch with Laotian dishes and dancing. Our gratitude extends to Lynda Boutah, who generously purchased clothing for a l the students, and to Ben Chang and Boris Petkov, from British Columbia (Canada) and Las Vegas (USA), whose contributions of books in addition to financial donations, have kick-started a library for the school.
