Update on SKL’s 14th School Project - June 2026
Dear donors and supporters,
First and foremost, School for Kids in Laos Inc. (SKL) would like to express its deepest gratitude to our donors and supporters around the world for your continued generosity and unwavering support. With your support we have built 13 schools which have helped provide a brighter future for underprivileged children in Laos — children who otherwise might not have had the opportunity to pursue an education. Thank you.
As many of you are aware, the current global economic and political climate continues to affect many countries, with Laos being particularly impacted. Rising fuel costs and inflation have driven construction expenses up by at least 25% compared to pre-crisis levels, making new school projects increasingly challenging to undertake.
In addition, evolving local priorities and circumstances have further complicated our efforts to identify and launch a new project that aligns with SKL’s mission and long-standing principles.
Despite these challenges, SKL remains firmly committed to its core values: merit-based assistance, transparency, sound governance, and commitment by concerned local authorities to ensure the post-construction maintenance and sustainability.
Although progress has been slower than we had hoped, our search for the next deserving project continues. We remain actively engaged on the ground and will keep you informed of any significant developments.

🎉 Don Phoung Primary School Inauguration 🎉
We are thrilled to announce the inauguration of Don Phoung Primary School on December 15, 2025, following nearly four months of construction.
This achievement was made possible thanks to the dedication of the PRÉCI 2025 Team from the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), Université du Québec à Montréal, whose commitment helped turn a vision into a lasting place of learning for the children of Don Phoung. Stay tuned!

Since their arrival at the end of August 2025, the PRÉCI team and local construction workers have been working tirelessly with a demanding schedule of 14 days on and 1 day off. Rain or shine, they’ve been giving it their all. Their dedication and strong work ethic have been nothing short of exemplary.

📢 Now Underway: Don Phoung Primary School (2025)
Project 13: Don Phoung Primary School, in Xanakham District, Vientiane Province.
Thanks to PRÉCI and their generous donors and supporters this project is now possible. PRÉCI is working closely in partnership with SKL to build a five-classroom school with furniture, washrooms, clean water, and electricity.
This inspiring cross-cultural partnership highlights the power of youth-driven leadership and international collaboration.
Huay Namyen Primary School & Botèn–Mixay Projects:
Due to circumstances beyond our control, these projects will not proceed at this time. Donations will be applied to the next selected school project.
